About Me

I am passionate about photography, people, cultures and communities, and the natural world. Visually oriented, I love to challenge myself to find fresh ways of seeing that show the subject in a new light. Among my favorite subjects to photograph are families, people, weddings, landscapes, community, personal and business events. I also love to photograph diverse cultures.
I first became interested in photography the summer after high school. My grandfather, a lifelong avid amateur photographer, gave me an old camera to take along to Europe on an exchange program. I lived in Bruges, Belgium, and traveled around Europe falling in love with taking pictures. Later I completed both undergraduate and masters degrees in Photography from the Visual Studies Workshop and Rochester Institute of Technology, both in Rochester, N.Y. I have been working professionally in photography and video production for more than 20 years, bringing a creative eye and my fine arts training to all my work.
 WEDDINGS and EVENTS
As your wedding or event photographer, I will meet with you ahead of time to learn something about you and your vision for the event documentation and answer any questions you may have. My goal is to capture the essential beauty of each wedding and event, no matter its size or style, and tell each unique story without being obtrusive. It is also important to me that the event participants and guests are at ease with my presence and enjoy interacting with me. I have shot weddings and events from Vermont to California and Mexico and have many satisfied clients.

PORTRAITS
I find that when people are relaxed they will reveal more of their inner beauty to the camera, so I take the time for clients to feel at ease behind the camera and for the process to unfold. I strive to make portraiture sessions enjoyable. It helps that I am by nature patient, gentle, playful, and nonjudgmental and find beauty in imperfections. I will shoot in any feasible setting a client chooses, but tend to gravitate toward natural settings, “found” urban environments, or in or around a client’s home.

Arthur has always greatly cared about his photography and video work. He is always responsive and willing to refine and edit often without a suggested change. He is determined to do good work wanting it to be of a high quality. Arthur always is considerate of the timing and our personal needs as well as understanding the desired outcomes of the intended work. I highly recommend Arthur for all future engagements and know you can trust him to do his very best in a timely fashion. Dr. Nina Meyerhof, President of Children of the Earth, Shelburne, Vermont

We hired Arthur to do our family portraits. He picked the right time of day, was very personable, put us all at ease and made us smile naturally by being himself. He spent a lot of time with us, trying different locations and ideas. He was open to our suggestions and offered his own. We love the pictures he produced and we used them for our annual portraits and Christmas cards. We would highly recommend Arthur for family or individual portraits. Bill and Cathy Aikman, Richmond, Vermont
